Assessments or Health-Checks

LYCEUM consultants provide initial environmental evaluation prior to the implementation of technology or provide a methodology to verify that technology has been implemented properly and that the value of the technology is being exploited to it fullest extent. By having an assessment performed, you can feel confident that your CA or other mainframe technology is implemented properly and that you are using all of the appropriate features and functions to optimize your business operations. The assessments are completed in three phases:

1) On-site meeting with staff, perform interviews and collect pertinent data (on-site);

2) Review gathered data and develop assessment report (off-site); and

3) Deliver assessment report and recommendations to client (on-site).

Upgrades to Current Version and Release Levels

These services provide the technical expertise to assist our clients during the upgrade process to the latest CA technology that is available. Our experts understand the technologies thoroughly and are trained in the upgrade process. This ensures a smooth and seamless transition to the latest software versions. All planning is done in partnership with our client to maximize the chance for success and minimize the disruption to the business. LYCEUM consultants will follow all appropriate client change management process during the project.

Installation of New Technology

LYCEUM consultants are there to assist our clients in the initial installation and implementation of CA technology at their site(s). The services are flexible in that LYCEUM can provide everything from project management through technical documentation in all systems (test, development, production) or we can do a portion of the overall project at the client's direction and train the client's staff to perform the remainder of services. LYCEUM consultants will follow all appropriate client change management process during the project.

Short- or Long-Term Staffing Assistance

LYCEUM provides a wide variety of consulting options to fit our clients needs. In some instances, our clients need only for LYCEUM to provide on-site or remote support for a short duration. In other cases, clients who may be short staffed or do not have product experience in a particular product(s) desire to have on-site or remote LYCEUM consultants to augment their existing staffing requirements. In either case, LYCEUM can provide the right resources for the right duration to meet your needs. Please call to discuss your unique requirements.

Remote Support

Remote Support provides a low-cost, unobtrusive method to assist our client's staffing needs. LYCEUM staff work remotely through the client approved access methodology and perform services over this secured access. Examples of remote support can be: 1) weekly review of the production database system, looking for anomalies or critical metrics that must be addressed before a failure might occur; 2) remote Database Administration Support (DBA) where requests for DBA support are conveyed via email to the consultant and the changes are made via remote connection, but always within the clients change control parameters. Remote support is flexible and can be crafted to meet your specific needs.

Server Consolidation

Server consolidation is a viable option to reduce the overall number of Unix and/or NT servers supporting your mission critical applications and reducing your expenses in support of those servers. By leveraging the power and reliability of your existing mainframe, Unix and NT servers can be consolidated onto a single image on the mainframe. It is not uncommon to see drastic reductions in hardware and software maintenance costs, as well as the accompanying decrease in personnel costs. Computer Associates and other vendors have a great deal of supporting technology for Linux on Z/OS and most application vendors have ported or are porting their software to run on Linux.

OS/390, Z/OS and System Software Installations and Upgrades

Performing system software upgrades is a critical requirement to ensure that your business operations are not at risk due to system software failure. Planning and performing these upgrades can be time consuming and complex projects. LYCEUM provides highly skilled IBM mainframe systems programmers to assist you with your mainframe operating system installations and upgrades. Depending upon your specific needs, our staff can participate in the planning and execution of the upgrade, on-site support, remote support and follow-on support after the upgrade is completed.

Mainframe OS Performance and Tuning

Performance and tuning is critical to maximizing the available MIPS, storage and memory on your mainframe system. Effective and consistent tuning can result in a number of cost saving benefits: 1) Increased duration between MIPS or mainframe upgrades; 2) Decreased DASD and memory costs; 3) Decreased personnel costs and most importantly 4) better response to your end-user community. Let LYCEUM help you get the most out of your mainframe systems.
